I try to keep my work on DA consistent.  That explains why I don't upload very often.  I prefer to upload high quality, fully finished work in a consistent style.

However, I AM taking graphic design and illustration classes, as well as filling sketchbooks full of doodles.  Thus, for this type of work, I've created a blog.

So I'm going to do a page of a bunch of doodles and sketches this week.  Then I thought to myself.

Hey folks!

So I'm leaving for a 6 weeks stay in Osaka, starting Friday!  Well actually, starting Sunday, counting the time difference at the 23 HOUR LAYOVER IN HAWAII!!!  Exciting, hm?  So I'll be updating my youtube vlog a lot if any of y'all are interested.  youtube.com/kailenedanae These entries will probably subbed, so if you aren't quite capable of Japanese, it's all cool!


Secondly, I've yet to buy a domain name, but I've created my first profile website for a class at my Uni.  After much blood, sweat, and tears, here it is!

Have you ever had that feeling with art?
Why can't I draw anything original?
Why is everything that's any good all the same?

That's where I am right now.
It's a horrible stage, I tell you.
My sketchbooks have tons of sketches, but when I go to color them...

They FAIL.
Literally.

I've been practicing anatomy.
I've been doing crazy poses using models.
But when it comes to drawing from my head??
The anatomy fails.  FAILS.

The thing that bothers me most?
I'm so perfectionistic.
I want to be one of those artists that just blobs color on top of color.
One of those artists that manipulates the colors into something beautiful.

Instead, I spend so much time sketching.
And re-sketching.
And re-sketching.
Re-sketching until the piece looks too planned,
Too perfect.
And when it's too perfect, it's just the same.
The same as my last piece and the piece before that.

It's so ANNOYING.
I want to just let myself go.
Let the art flow from my fingers.
But instead?  Everything is too planned.

DANGIT.
I need help.
I want to be an artist.
